Tuesday (Mangalvar) Vrat Katha — Hanuman ji

The Tuesday fast is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, observed for strength, courage, and freedom from troubles. Below is the complete story, fasting rules, and benefits.

In a certain town lived a poor Brahmin, deeply devoted to Lord Hanuman. Every Tuesday he would visit the Hanuman temple, offering sindoor and gram-flour sweets with full devotion. One day, a wealthy merchant’s wife mocked him, saying devotion cannot fill an empty stomach.

That very night, Lord Hanuman appeared in her dream and warned her never to disrespect a true devotee. She ignored the warning — and the next day, her husband’s business suffered heavy losses. Frightened, she went to the Brahmin, apologised, and asked how to properly worship Hanuman ji. He taught her the Tuesday vrat vidhi. With sincere devotion, her family’s fortune was gradually restored. Since then, it is believed that observing the Tuesday fast with true faith removes fear and hardship, and grants Hanuman ji’s protection, strength, and courage.
